William M. Marberry

In SIUC Botany from 1939 to 1970


May be a native of Carbondale.  Two sisters Alice Limpus (Lake Shore Drive, Lake Chautauqua). Second sister: Principal of Rush School.


1914 came to Carbondale
B. Ed. 1935 Southern Illinois University (in Horticulture & floriculture)
M. A. 1936 University of Illinois


Deceased April 2, 1984. Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.  

Assistant Professor of Botany (apparently this was his terminal rank).  Planted many European and Asian trees on the SIU campus.  Started the Marberry arboretum (the "farm"), helped lay out the nature trails at Giant City State Park.
