Inflorescence: cymes, often on a long scape

Fruits: Loculicidal capsules

Habit: Insectivorous, perennial herbs

Leaves: Alternate, seldom Whorled, CIRCINATE in bud. Highly modified to trap insect. With mucilage secreting glandular trichomes (Drosera) or snap-traps (Dionaea)

Dionaea muscipula (Venus's flytrap)
