2. To understand the three types of reproductive cycles displayed by eukaryotic organisms.
3. To understand the evolutionary history of the structural features that are found in modern day plants and fungi.
4. To appreciate the ecological importance of various kinds of plants and fungi.
5. To learn about the economic impact of various kinds of plants and fungi, and recognize the essential products derived from them.
6. To become proficient in the use of both the compound and dissecting microscope.
7. To develop laboratory skills associated with data observation, recording and interpretation.
